Nios easy or not? So , both theory and practical are harder in NIOS . ... The Syllabus and Exam level in NIOS is low as compared to the  CBSE Board Exams. Well if a student fails to make in the CBSE he can do it in NIOS . The Passing Certificate of NIOS is nearly valid in all the Universities and Colleges of India and is govt.

Who are eligible for Nios?

 
 

A learner who has passed class VIII and has valid proof of attaining 14 years of age can apply for registration to the Secondary Course. A learner giving a self-certificate “I have studied enough to be able to pursue secondary course” is also eligible for admission to the Secondary Course.

 A learner who has passed class X and has valid proof of attaining 14 years of age can apply for registration to the Sr. Secondary Course. A learner giving a self-certificate “I have studied enough to be able to pursue secondary course” is also eligible for admission to the Sr. Secondary Course.
